I should be able to have a button that makes it so all mercenary companies that appear for me use a specific army composition because even with good discipline your mercenaries will get slaughtered late game due to the lack of cannons unless you attach manpower ones but in my portugal run that proved to be so tedious that despite wanting to play around with the mercenary companies more I just had to build about 200k manpower troops just to be able to siege properly and in the end felt like mercenary ideas was a wasted idea group slot even though it had helped me a lot in the early game. The issue I have with the mercenaries is they are just annoying to play with even when you really want to enjoy it, I did empire of mann and all blue with nearly only mercenaries and they just end up being extremely infuriating to transport or to fight wars with because even if you do a good job stacking mercenary discipline (which I also enjoy but I wish it was more commonly availble if you’re willing to invest into it) the fact that mercenary militarization scales with income and decays just makes it not worth investing in unless you’re either extremely poor or extremely rich. ![]() I enjoy mercenary ideas a lot and the concept of having your military primarily consist of them is interesting, I love unique playstyles like that or cavalry-focus because after playing for some time it just ends up feeling refreshing. Honestly I just wish there was a way to make them adopt a specific template like you can with manpower troops because people say „oh just attach cannons” but in reality it just ends up being extremely annoying to have to reattach them everytime I win a war and they get exiled.
